BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. (Nov. 21, 2011) – Ben McManaway has joined Bonita Springs Utilities Inc. as safety/security coordinator, responsible for the safety of work practices, equipment, facilities and site conditions for the utility’s 105 employees. He monitors the utility for regulatory compliance, conducts health and safety training and safeguards equipment from theft, loss and destruction.
McManaway has more than a decade of experience in safety and risk management. He owned a safety-consulting group and managed safety programs for a variety of businesses. McManaway holds a bachelor’s degree in safety management from Purdue University and an associate’s degree in fire science from Mesa College in Phoenix, Ariz. He is an authorized Occupational Safety and Health Administration instructor.Bonita Springs Utilities is a not-for-profit water and wastewater utility founded by local citizens in 1971. Water Conservation
The South Florida Water Management District is a regional governmental agency that oversees the water resources in the southern half of the state, covering 16 counties from Orlando to the Florida Keys and serving a population of 7.5 million residents.
It is the oldest and largest of the state's five water management districts. Created in 1949, the agency is responsible for managing and protecting water resources of South Florida by balancing and improving water quality, flood control, natural systems and water supply.
