Reading Your Water Meter
Your water meter is identified by a number
that is printed or engraved on its lid.
This number also is included on your monthly
bill. Water usage is recorded on the meter's
dials, which are read from left to right.
BSU Meter Readers
BSU reads your meter once a month. The
meter reader will visit your property
briefly on approximately the same day
each month. Customers may request a copy
of their meter-reading schedule by calling
BSU Customer Service at (239) 992-0711.
Please help the meter readers by keeping
bushes trimmed so that readers have unobstructed
access to the meters for routine monitoring
and emergency repairs. If your meter is
in an area guarded by a pet, please let
us know so that we can be prepared.
Testing Your Meter
When BSU meter readers see unusually high
usage, they will check the meter a second
time before submitting the information
for billing. If you would like to have
a reading rechecked again and are willing
to pay for a return visit, please call
Customer Service.
If you have talked with Customer Service
and still cannot account for a period
of unusually high water usage, you may
request that the meter be removed and
tested. If tests show the meter is working
properly and meets the standards set by
the American Water Works Association,
you will be billed for the test. If the
meter proves to be substandard, there
will be no charge, and the meter will
be replaced.
Other problems that are unrelated to properly
functioning meters, including line maintenance,
leaks and other waterline problems on
your property, are the member-customer's
responsibility.
