The staff and board of directors of Bonita Springs Utilities spend a lot of time and energy on big issues like improving the quality and efficiency of our operations, evaluating growth projections, researching better technologies and planning for the future. The big picture is important, but our real focus is you – our member-customers. Our ultimate goal is to provide reliable, excellent water and wastewater service to each of our member-customers day in and day out – now and in the future.
Some days, achieving that goal is a challenge. Nature creates stumbling blocks, aging infrastructure fails at the most inconvenient times, and human beings make mistakes. I’m proud of how our staff handles these challenges, responds to problems and learns from mistakes.
To serve you even better, the board of directors is working on a long-range plan that will set the direction for the utility by defining our values and articulating our long-term goals. This process has been enlightening and productive. We are on the right track, and the completed plan will help us sharpen our focus and our efforts.
Our short-term plans include more than $100 million in capital improvement projects and $77 million in bond issues during the next five years. You can expect the utility’s rates and fees to increase, but you also can expect them to remain competitive with similar utility companies and to offer good value to you – the member-customers who are the focus of our efforts.
