Work begins to eliminate
approximately 800 septic tanks by connecting
two Bonita Springs neighborhoods to the
central sewer system.
BSU acquires the assets
of the wastewater treatment plant and collections
system serving the Bonita Springs Golf
and Country Club area.
The reverse osmosis
water treatment facility is scheduled to
open in late 2003. The facility will produce
6 million gallons of water a day and has
been designed to later be expanded to a
daily capacity of 12 million gallons. The
new facility and the 2002 expansion of
the utility’s water treatment plant
will allow BSU to eventually produce more
than 20 million gallons of water per day – enough
to meet the needs of the utility’s
service area at build out.
Work continues on planning
and permitting of the utility’s second
water reclamation facility on a site north
of Terry Street and east of I-75. The facility
is slated to treat up to 12 million gallons
of wastewater per day.
An obsolete storage
tank was demolished to make way for the
new facility.
The
20,000-square-foot plant takes shape at
the BSU water treatment facility on East
Terry Street.
Reverse
osmosis is a process that forces brackish
