2002 IN
REVIEW
- Sections of BSU’s
Web site, at www.BSU.us, were launched
in Spanish to make customer service information
available to a broader audience.
- BSU and Acme Computer
Services donated 15 used personal computers
to students in local public schools.
- The utility was granted
approval to adjust its rates and fees,
the first adjustment since 1995.
- BSU and the City of
Bonita Springs finalized an agreement to
move the utility’s franchise from
Lee County to the city.
- In the spring, BSU
began construction of a $38 million reverse
osmosis water treatment plant to help meet
anticipated water demand through 2005.
- A bright pink pig,
a creation of Three Oaks Elementary School
student Leilani Gonzalez, encourages Bonita
Springs residents to “save water
for a dry day.” Leilani’s illustration
was chosen from 300 submitted for BSU’s
second Water Conservation Calendar. The
artwork of 11 other students conveys similar
messages, helping the utility to promote
the responsible protection of our water
resources year-round.
